View Used and Remaining Insurance Benefits (US)

Print

Description

You can view used and remaining insurance benefits in the sidekick or in the insurance module.

Steps

At this time, this is a view only option. The ability to edit or update the dental benefits used by a patient is not available. Remaining benefits are determined by subtracting the used benefits from the maximum, automatically done when payments from the insurance carrier are posted to an invoice. The maximum is entered in the insurance Plan Information section in the Insurance module.

Note: The definition of used benefits in Curve Hero is when an insurance payment is posted. Estimates in treatment plans and completed invoices are not considered used benefits until a payment is posted.

Sidekick

  1. To view the insurance benefits in the Sidekick, click on the triangle next to Insurance in the Sidekick.

  2. Select the insurance plan that is listed in the summary, then close the popup window with the insurance policy information.

  3. In the Sidekick, you will see the insurance information, including the met and remaining benefits listed at the bottom.

    Insurance Module

To view the insurance benefits in the Insurance module, click on the word Insurance in the Sidekick. Under Coverage, click the insurance policy line. The policy information will expand, showing details regarding the insurance company. At the bottom of the information, the used and remaining benefits are listed.

Note: Patients with a non-assignment policy will not display a used/remaining balance in the Sidekick or in the Insurance module. With non-assignment policies, Curve Hero does not track what is used because the patient is paid directly, not the practice.
